Give Drivers the Ability to Take Breaks; Parking Spots for Rideshare
The Independent Drivers Guild and our members know the stress involved in keeping up with rides throughout the day, without a place to park to take a restroom break. Currently, there are only 31 parking zones in Manhattan for 80,000 rideshare drivers. That’s why in New York City, the IDG is helping push legislation that will support drivers. INTRO #1000 will give drivers access to convenient short-term parking throughout the city.
NYC drivers keep this city moving — but we can’t keep going without a place to stop. We’re fighting for our Parking & Relief Bill to:
Open up access to thousands of “commercial vehicle” parking spots across NYC
Give drivers the ability to pull over for up to 30 minutes, 4 times a day
Allow drivers the access and time to find bathrooms, buy food, pray, or just rest

Lack of for-hire vehicle parking for work breaks has had devastating consequences for drivers’ health and led to lost pay and costly tickets. Intro 1000 will restore basic human rights and dignity for the city’s rideshare drivers and reduce unnecessary traffic congestion and pollution in the city as drivers scramble to find parking.
